Why should you take a probiotic that is alive?

|
Supplements with live active cultures (often known as probiotics) contain living bacteria (most often Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus species) and yeast which promote health, particularly in the gut microbiome. A probiotic contains live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, deliver various health benefits. Bacteria have historically been thought of as germs that cause diseases. But the body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. A common question about probiotics that we get asked is, will the beneficial bacteria reach the gut alive? For beneficial microbes within a supplement (a probiotic) to reach the gut or the large intestine and get to work they must pass through a very unfriendly environment - the stomach. When you eat food your digestive system releases acid into your stomach and enzymes and bile salts into your small intestine, which attack beneficial bacteria. Probiotics with bacterial strains, such as yoghurts, are food and so the beneficial bacteria struggle to survive through the digestive process due to the acidic environment. Some probiotic supplements come in freeze-dried capsules intended to allow the beneficial bacteria to survive the harsh stomach environment and make it to the large intestine. But when the bacteria are freeze dried the living microorganisms can become dormant, or fall asleep. Freeze drying removes all the moisture from a product at a low temperature and pressure. In order for the microbes to work effectively they have to be awake and to wake them back up they need to be re-hydrated. By the time the beneficial microbes wake up again they may have passed through the digestive system and missed their chance to do their job. Unlike freeze-dried capsules and refrigerated probiotics our range of Bio-Live cultures are alive within a water-based superbrew which means your stomach does not see it as food. Stomach acids are produced only when food is introduced to the environment and not in response to water and other liquids. Liquids and water are passed onto the large intestines. Bio-Live is  brewed to the same acidity as the stomach, so the beneficial microbes can pass straight through the stomach and reach the gut alive and ready to work. You can  help these billions of alive and active workers make it to your gut by taking them in the morning, 30 minutes before breakfast. They need to move through your digestive system into your gut as quickly as possible, but this process will be delayed if you have a big breakfast and block the way. Microbz Bio-Live is unique and has been specifically designed to reach your gut alive. It is a living fermented liquid with 14 families of live and active beneficial microbial cultures. These 14 diverse bacterial strains are: bacillus subtilis, bifidobacterium bifidum, bifidobacterium infantis, bifidobacterium longum, combocillus, lactobacillus acidophilus, lactobacillus bulgaricus, lactobacillus casei, lactobacillus fermentum, lactobacillus plantarum, lactococcus lactis, rhamnosus, saccharomyces cerevisiae and streptococcus thermophilus. Together they work in symbiosis to maintain gut health, a healthy immune system and support wellbeing.   Get 3 for 2 on our entire Bio-Live range here until 31 January.
