Moringa Oleifera is a plant native to India and Africa but it is now cultivated across the tropics due to its various medicinal qualities. It’s known in many places as the ‘miracle tree’. Plants reach a height of 15 to 30 feet within just a few years providing flowers and pods that can be eaten.
The leaves are particularly nutritious and can either be eaten raw in salads, tossed into a blender, made into tea or steamed like spinach. Rich in protein, beta-carotene, vitamin C, potassium and calcium, they make an excellent green vegetable and don’t taste too bad either.
Moringa also offers healing benefits. All of the parts of the pant can be used to treat inflammation and cardiovascular issues whilst protecting digestive organs, improving liver function and enhancing milk flow for new mothers. The leaves are known for reducing high blood pressure and lowering cholesterol. Studies prove moringa leaves possess anti-tumor and anti-cancer activities.
