At Microbz we work with partners all over the world. In Southern India, there is an inspirational organisation making a big difference. Social Change and Development (SCAD) is led by Cletus Babu and his wife Amali who are dedicated to transforming the lives of people in poverty. Through their initiatives in education, health and agriculture – as well as organising more than 1 million women into savings groups – they have supported 600 villages to lift themselves out of poverty.

In 2012 we introduced the practice of brewing microbes to Cletus and his colleagues. They are committed to natural solutions and immediately saw the benefit of using microbial technology to help enhance their soils and grow crops in Tamil Nadu, which is notoriously arid. They began brewing.

Last year they produced some results from a trial of Microbz Soil Conditioner. The team at SCAD used the Soil Conditioner on 2 hectares (5 acres) of cluster bean plants for three months between March and June 2016. In order for the experiment to be accurate, they applied microbes to 2.5 acres and had 2.5 acres as a control area where no microbes were applied. They applied the microbes three times: on the day of sowing the seeds, before flowering and before fruiting. Here are their results.
