A single-celled green algae, spherical in shape and containing chlorophyll-a and -b in chloroplast. It reproduces rapidly with photosynthesis.

History

Arrived on earth more than 2 billion years ago. ‘Chlor’ translates from Latin as green and ‘ella’ means tiny. Only began harvesting for nutritional purposes in 1950s in Japan.

Crude proteins, fats and carbs.

Nutritional constituents:

Vitamins: B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12, C, E. Minerals: iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorous, sulphur. Vegetable protein (including all essential and non-essential amino acids).

Indications:

Liver function, detoxifies heavy metals, stomach ulcers, diabetes, depression, regulates blood pressure, improves memory, constipation, IBS and the common cold.

Dosage:

500-1g daily for maintenance. Up to 6g daily to boost immunity.
